In 2014, six University of Nebraska at Omaha students and eight Omaha community members participated in the inaugural study abroad trip to Israel sponsored by the UNO Natan and Hannah Schwalb Center for Israel and Jewish Studies.  This trip focused on Israeli history, archeology and culture, allowing participants to experience firsthand this extraordinary country.

This trip is an example of the educational opportunities made available through the Schwalb Center, which was founded by a generous donation by Natan and Hannah Schwalb and other contributors to the University of Nebraska Foundation and housed in the UNO's College of Arts and Sciences.  Aligned with the main goal of center which is to expand knowledge about Judaism and Israel, both on university campus and in the broader Nebraska community, and we seek to promote and facilitate collaborative scholarship (teaching and research) with academic institutions in Israel.
