You have been very patient. You have been good teachers. D.J. Trela D.J. Trela recently completed fourteen years as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Michigan—Flint. Prior to this appointment he served for nearly six years as Director of the School of Liberal Studies, and three as Chair of the Department of English, at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Trela, currently Professor of English, serves on the Board of the Flint Institute of Arts, and as Board Chair of the Flint Cultural Center Corporation. His background in fundraising includes serving on the Steering Committee for the UM-Flint Capital Campaign (2004–09), chairing the Development Task Force for the 2011–16 UM-Flint Strategic Plan, serving on the Development Committee of the FCCC, and many years of meeting with and cultivating donors. Particular thanks are due to his former Major Gift Officer, Ms. Shelly Hoffman, who taught him most of what he knows about the practical side of fundraising in a University environment.
